1. Stop making excuses. There is really no place for them in your life. You have created your life the way that it is. The ONLY way to change that is to make different choices about what you will do today and in the future. Have you unintentionally created a scattered life? One that you are not proud of? What have you created by not paying attention? Debt, broken relationships, unhealthy relationships, weight gain, negative attitude…..Yes, all of those things are in your control and you can change the outcome of all of them but first you must deal with you, which is typically extremely difficult. Think about what you are putting into the universe and asking for in return. Do you bemoan things that come your way or do you see them an opportunity for growth and a change in your perception. As Steven Covey tells us very clearly in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, perception is NOT reality, it is only your reality. Change your perception, change your reality. It’s so simple but it’s NOT easy. I’m going to say that again. It’s simple but it is NOT easy.

2. READ and learn. Obsessively and continuously. The more you read, the more you grow as a person and the more you can help others around you. You will not find any overnight success stories in the books you read but you will learn what others have done before you that can help you become a better person. You will have access to research and tools that you can’t get from your own brain, no matter how hard to dig into your own brain. We are all built on the shoulders of people before us.

  1. Surround yourself with people smarter than you who are on the path of success. We become the 5 people we hang out with most. Now, 2 of the people I hang out with most are teenage girls but I have to say those girls teach me something new every dayJ Be intentional about creating relationships with people you admire and make time to spend with them on a regular basis. Also, note if they bring a positive or negative force in your life. The more conscious you are about this, the more you will pick up on how they talk and what types of things they are manifesting in their lives.

4.  Find your purpose and LIVE it! When you get on a plane, you don’t just get to the airport and figure out where you’re going to go. You have a destination in mind so you are appropriately packed for your travel and trip, you have a ticket printed for your journey and you know why you’re going. Same thing as finding your purpose and living it. You have to know your purpose so that you can prepare accordingly.  Know where you’re going and why you are going in the first place.
